The Victorian Scramble
The Victorian Stroll (https://www.victorianstroll.com) is one of the best days in the city of Troy. It’s fun. There are people out. The weather generally cooperates. I was thinking to myself what happens if we schedule a race on that day? To that end, I came up with The Victorian Scramble, partly as a way to lovingly reference the PPTC’s Endurance Festival in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, which is one of my favorite days in my history of running.
So here’s the deal…
You will run in Prospect Park, Congress Street, Troy, NY on December 6 with a start time of 7 am. (Sunrise is at 7:11 so be prepared to greet the dawn.)
It’s a 1.71 km loop (Strava Segment)… About a mile…
There are 26 m of elevation.
You have eight hours to run as many loops as you want. 30 loops is 50 K. (actually 29.24 is 50 K but…).
Registration is $5.
There will be an aid station that will have Coke and some things, but I ask anyone who is joining us to bring something to share.
What do you like to have on a long race day? Bring it!
Because if it’s not on Strava, it did not happen, so here is the Strava event:

There will be merch and medals available for purchase if you would like. The design for those will be coming in the next ten days as well as pricing and a hard order date. (if you do not order it by the date, you will not be receiving the things on the day of the race) the hard order date will also be the last time to sign up if you want a personalized bib for this race. Loops will be counted by volunteers at the start/finish aid station area.
There is a charity of choice for this event and it is the Troy Bike Rescue. $2 of your registration fee will go to the TBR. If you would like to make an additional donation to them you can do it here:
While we do have some volunteers, if you are interested in supporting your runners or just supporting the entire event, please let me know. Any help would be appreciated. We will need course marshals for the first couple of loops. (after that, I am going to assume that everyone knows where they’re going.)
There will be more information coming including parking recommendations, but if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at troyrunningleague@gmail.com.
